Being a part of the TYC is being a part of something greater. It is not only wishing to make change, but actually being a part of the transformation. It is taking the rule of “love your neighbor” to a whole other level by creating community relationships and partnerships. It is pride. It is family. It is Topeka.

Being a part of the TYC to me means being part of a team and having people who will support you no matter what and a great way to stay involved and have a voice in our community

The TYC has been a valuable experience. I’ve been able to work alongside other youth across Topeka to improve our community. The TCYC gave me a platform to find my voice and speak out about issues of importance to me.

Being a part of the TYC means a lot more than just a simple youth organization. it represents an opportunity to create real change among the community for once. youth have a seat at the table and i think that’s truly important to not only the community, but to developing lifelong skills about relationship, social capital, meaningful connections, and how change occurs. this has taken  a lot of work, but i would say it is 100% worth it.
